Hiking is a physical activity that requires supplementary cardiovascular and muscular training in addition to your normal daily activities. You have to maintain a certain level of physical fitness in order to hike long distances comfortably. But you don’t need an exotic or expensive training program and you don’t really need a gym when training for a hike. A simple exercise ball — the kind that can be purchased at most department stores — can be an inexpensive, yet effective tool for the kind of muscle strengthening and stability exercises perfect when training for a hike. Below is a downloadable PDF with eight different exercises that are sure to keep your body in peak hiking condition.
