Megellan RoadMate Pro 9165T GPS

The Good Sam Club partnered with Magellan to load its latest flagship RoadMate Pro GPS unit with camping and RV travel features that will compliment any copilot’s job, or completely handle them whenever necessary. The Magellan RoadMate Pro’s 7-inch display features generously sized touch-screen icons that keep the unit easy-to-use during travel if the driver is solo. Turn-by-turn spoken instructions and a comprehensive display of trip information is clearly presented, including: the destination ETA, compass direction, current speed and elevation, as well as astonishingly accurate posted speed limit updates for the route you’re driving, tempered by a (user-set) vocal over-speed warning reminder.

The Magellan RoadMate Pro also offers free lifetime metro-traffic updates in real-time, scans and displays congestion warnings with any delay times and can suggest alternate routes when prompted. It will also advise the best interstate traffic lane to occupy when approaching a programmed change in direction, something very handy for large vehicles or when towing. Those large vehicles will also benefit from the special “Vehicle Profile” screen where RV Class A, B and C, travel trailer and fifth-wheel length, width and weight parameters can be entered, allowing the RoadMate Pro to suggest appropriate alternate routes where and when necessary.

Finding any location is a snap using Quickspell, Magellan’s patented on-screen (Qwerty) keyboard method for identifying or suggesting locations and/or names, even if the correct spelling is not known. Navigation is precise whether you use zoom, birds-eye or finger swipe mode on the navi-screen view in 2D or 3D.

Adding destinations or using some of the six million preloaded point-of-interest (POI) stops during a trip is another simple keystroke process, allowing the Magellan RoadMate Pro 9165T GPS to search out and provide instructions to the closest needed service or to a specific-brand service station or truckstop. The impressive database listings conveniently include contact phone numbers that can be auto-dialed using the RoadMate Pro’s complete suite of Bluetooth hands-free functions from your cell phone. An accessory license plate frame rear-view camera is also available ($149.99), converting the navi-screen to a wireless backup monitor when needed.

Included in its extensive database — updated twice a year — is our sister publication Trailer Life’s digitized annual campground directory complete with ratings, facility amenities and contact information for more than 11,000 campgrounds. Also included are Good Sam discount locations, Camping World retail locations, as well as public and private U.S. and Canadian RV parks, all continuously updated by vicinity as you drive.

Repair facilities for both human and mechanized patients are also a screen touch away. A variety of nearby emergency and customary health care, dental and mechanical-repair providers are also a part of the RoadMate Pro’s extensive library.

Unlike smaller conventional automotive GPS units, the sophisticated RoadMate Pro uses a large heavy-duty suction cup with an adhesive ring mount on a 10-inch adjustable extension arm to affix the unit to deep dashboards or RV cockpit side glass. With an infinitely adjustable axis, the mount creates a convenient and solid base for the 12-ounce display. Also included is a download cable to insure the Pro is using the latest Magellan information.

If you’re looking for an intuitive, customizable and portable GPS that will help you handle your daily commute and offers an extended interstate tour with an impressive host of screen menus to guide and provide, be sure to check out the Magellan Roadmate Pro 9165T GPS. MSRP: $399.99.

A nice GPS. A gps system is amazing while traveling long distances in your RV. It is very nice never having to worry about a map or atlas, I just need my little GPS. It is kind of crazy how technology has changed so much. Great though. I bought my campground navigator from http://www.makariosrv.com . It is great to see all of the rv campground books in this directory and then simply put it in my GPS. It works great.
