Spyderco Chaparral
http://www.campinglife.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Spyderco-Chaparral.jpgMaker of some of the finest pocket knives, Spyderco (800-525-7770, www.spyderco.com), has introduced a new line of mid-sized left-right tip-up clip folders called Chaparral, named after the hardy native shrub that dominates the western United States. The first of the series ($174.95) measures 6-3/8 inches open with a blade length of 2-13/16 inches, and weighs just 2.5 ounces. Wenger Toolry
http://www.campinglife.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/WENGER.jpgJewelry from Wenger? You bet, it’s called toolry, tools you wear like a necklace. The new HypeX Jewelry line from Wenger (www.wengerna.com) was launched this year and for now features six pieces. Our favorite is the Wyss Pendant ($99.99), which features a tiny hidden blade for opening cans, a slot that can be used to open bottles, and another that acts as a 10 mm wrench. The tip can also be used as a small pry bar and as a wire stripper. Other tools in the line include a knife sharpener, screwdriver, whistle/tweezer, wrench, and corkscrew.

Victorinox Swisschamp
http://www.campinglife.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Victorinox-Swisschamp.jpgAny of the three knives in the new Victorinox (800-442-2706, www.swiss army.com) Hardwood Series would make an excellent gift for the holiday season. However, we are especially fond of the largest model in the line, the SwissChamp ($112.50), not only because of its astonishingly gorgeous hardwood handle, but because it has 33 implements including a large (2.5-inch) and small (1.5-inch) blade, as well as a corkscrew, can opener, small and large screwdrivers (also for Phillips), wood saw, pliers with wire cutter and crimper, magnifying lens, and even a pressurized ball point pen.
