While camping in Glacier Bay National Park, there is always plenty to do and plenty to see, from biking, hiking, boating, camping, fishing, and horseback riding to cross country skiing, snow shoeing, and more. With more than 700mi. of hiking trails, there is an abundance of land to explore. Some of the hikes take you through forests, valleys, mountains, along rivers, and through pristine wilderness. There are many activities to enjoy in the winter months as well, including: snowshoeing, skiing, and cross country skiing. Camping is available 12 months out of the year!
Glacier Bay National Park is open all year, however, winter weather can cause many of the facilities to close, and many roads shut down because of snow. Because of the varying elevations, climate can be different throughout the park. Snow is a possibility year round, especially at the higher levels so visitors should be ready for any condition while visiting the park. Summer temperature highs average in the 70’s but can vary depending on the elevation. The winter months average in the 20’s but can still vary, depending on elevation.
